My New Obsession: "Machine Knight"

So, for a few months I didn't have a smart phone. (Those were dark, productive days...) But just a few weeks ago I got a kick-awesome LG phone that's pretty sweet, despite not having a QWERTY keyboard.

I decided I wanted a game on my phone, naturally. Playing an RPG had been a desire of mine for some time, so it seemed a perfect fit. I searched the reviews of the various RPGs, and picked one that matched my desire. That game is called "Machine Knight."

The game tells the story of a young man who travels worlds in search of a new power source. What he finds instead is that he has been betrayed.

"Machine Knight"'s format is much like the RPGs and Final Fantasies of old, which is exactly what I had hoped. It has side missions and many villains, and the wonderful opportunity to gain money with every battle. So I did what any decent human being would do: I became hooked.

Constantly, I seek enemies to attack so that I may gain money and level up my team of heroes. I try to execute every side mission possible before continuing on with the story. Always eager to get to the next town, I have a hard time staying in one place, but I do for the sake of exploring its every crevice.

There is one fault within the game. Whenever one desires to save, a timer appears on the save slot. This indicates how long the player has been actively playing the game. Why they would have a timer is anyone's guess, since this makes the player aware of their obsessive behavior, and consequently feel the same of playing for far too long. Your author has a game saved that's over 5 hours. But hey! It's not 24 hours yet, so I think I'm good.

If you're a fan of the old Final Fantasy games or just RPGs in general, I definitely recommend "Machine Knight." Bonus: It's actually free. It is not one of those games that claims to be free, but then drives you crazy with limitations until you actually spend money or quit. (The Facebook Hunger Games was the latter kind; I quit it in under an hour.)

Here's a sampling of some of the game:
